The Game is not Playin’

So I heard this cat a long long time ago when he first came out with “Hate It or Love It” and I gotta say, I love his flow! I never bought the albums and hadn’t heard much from him, but every now and again I’d come across something on youtube and nod my head, once again appreciating his flow.

So about a couple of weeks ago, I was thinking of this cat and typed in his name on youtube and came across this diss track here:

Now…I’m not big on diss tracks.  I feel that they can unnecessarily be the harbinger of escalated bs that can lead to fisticuffs and then additional unneeded violence.  But every now and then a back and forth comes out like the whole Jay-Z vs Nas battle rap war that led to some brilliant wordplay and well, sufficed to say while I may not listen to either all that much, I got mad love and respect for both artists’ skills.

Anyway, Game’s got a new cd out and when I heard Uncle Otis, I had to see what else he was tossin’ out and came across his newest track, Pot of Gold.

The thing that I can give mad respect to The Game for is he never left home…not in his heart anyway.  He doesn’t forget where he comes from, getting caught up in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, big ballin’ and all that.  So big up to The Game.  If the whole cd is anything like these tracks, he better make it to number 1 on the charts.

Happy Monday folks :)

  1. The best diss song in my opinion would be Dre Day by Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg where they go at Easy E., Tim Dog & Luke Skywalker aka Uncle Luke of 2 Live Crew. When Easy E. left NWA and started his own record label he took shots at Dre which at the time seemed out of pocket since even though he used to be part of the group most his rhymes were written by Ice Cube (who didn’t get much credit). Tim Dog as well as Luke took shots at Dr. Dre claiming lack of producer & rapping skills. That was funny to me since Tim Dog was a horrible rapper and Luke was too. If it wasn’t for Luke’s booty music would folks really think he was hot? When Dr. Dre came out with Dre Day it was potent enough to make everyone step back and raise an eyebrow at the genius of patiently waiting for a diss song not only laced with a hot track and a young Snoop Dogg but verbal jabs to make Easy, Tim Dog & Uncle Luke focus on their own. That joint had an arsenal of ammo to make onlookers think twice before going at anyone down with Death Row (despite the fear of Suge Knight). DPG, Lady of Rage, Warren G, Nate Dogg and later Tupac all made the West Coast a force to be delt with. Not taking credit away from Ice Cube’s No Vaseline (diss song to Easy E.) and other West Coasters, but Dr. Dre was a beast for not backing down after taking so much crap all at once by a variety of hip hop heads.

    • See that’s what’s up Dolla. Now I’m gonna have to go listen.

I guess my thing is more the story behind the diss track. I don’t know the story behind Game’s TBH…but I did like the track. His flow is just like that and I love the music. Do I want to know the story behind it? Um..maybe not this morning. LOL

But I am gonna go take a listen to Dre Day because I never heard the track of if I did I had no idea it was in fact, a diss. That was in my much younger years before I was allowed to listen to any type of rap in the house LMAO
